Verso’s principle: collect as little as possible. This page says exactly what we do with your data.

Reading the site: nothing is collected

The pages of verso.news are static files. We set no cookies, we use no audience measurement tool, no embedded social buttons, no fonts or scripts loaded from a third-party service. Fonts are served from our own domain.

Our host, Cloudflare, technically processes your IP address to serve the pages and protect the site against attacks (legal basis: legitimate interest, article 6.1.f GDPR). These technical logs are kept by Cloudflare for a short period and are not passed on to us in identifiable form. Your browser may send our host an anonymous technical report if a connection error occurs.

The “Night” button

If you switch on the night edition, your browser stores this single preference locally (localStorage, key verso-theme). It never leaves your device, we have no access to it, and it is deleted when you switch back to day mode. This storage is strictly necessary for the service you request; it does not require consent.

Sharing an alert

The share buttons open the app you choose (WhatsApp, e-mail) with the article link. No data is sent to those services until you click; after that, their own policy applies.

The newsletter

The newsletter opens when the site launches; no address is collected for now. When it opens, we will process your e-mail address to send you Verso’s newsletter (one useful alert a day). Legal basis: your consent (article 6.1.a GDPR), given at sign-up and confirmed by a validation e-mail (double opt-in). You will be able to withdraw it at any time: one-click unsubscribe link in every e-mail, or an e-mail to contact@verso.news.

We will not track opens or clicks. We never sell, rent or pass on your address. The sending provider (a processor under article 28 GDPR), its hosting country and the retention period will be stated here before the first sign-up.

Writing to us

When you write to us (error report, right of reply, question), we process your e-mail and the content of your message to reply and, where relevant, correct an article (legal basis: legitimate interest and, for the right of reply, legal obligation). Retention: three years after the last exchange; right-of-reply requests and their supporting documents are kept for the applicable limitation period.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port your data, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Write to contact@verso.news. We reply within one month. You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL: www.cnil.fr, 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France.

Minors

The site is open to everyone. The newsletter will be for people aged 15 and over.
